For the first time, State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company’s Power Transmission and Inspection Branch innovatively used electric climbers to carry out live work, and made every effort to ensure reliable electricity consumption for residents.

Li Zhaohua, monitor of the live-line operation team of the Wuhan Power Supply Company’s Transmission and Inspection Branch of the State Grid, said that during inspections on the 220 kV Daiyang primary line, they found that the No. 105°C, if not dealt with in time, the line may be fused due to local high temperature, causing a power outage on the line.

Due to the special type of tower No. 46 of the 220 kV Daiyang Primary Circuit Line, the traditional soft-ladder potential method and hard-ladder potential method cannot be used to carry out live work on this fault due to technical and safety reasons. In order to avoid emergency repairs of the power line and reduce the time of power outage, the company decided to use the electric climber to enter the equipotential for the first time to carry out live work.

As the first live operator who experienced this new type of operation, Li Jianhao, a live operator of the Transmission and Inspection Branch of the State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company, was very excited about this task. He said: “This live operation, there are two Two innovations. The first one is the shunt line material that solves the heat of the contact. After the QC innovation of our electrified class, the current shunt line is lighter and faster to operate; the other is the use of electric climbers, which greatly saves the charge The physical strength and working time of the workers, especially in this hot weather, the shorter the working time, the safer.”

This live work, from start to finish, took about 1 hour, saving nearly half of the time compared with conventional work.

According to the transmission and inspection branch of State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company, the company will continue to carry out live work, eliminate hidden dangers in the line in time, reduce power outage time, and escort residents to use electricity in an orderly manner.
